We are pleased to say that a nursery has operated from this site for many years. The previous owners ran Moorlands childhood centre which obtained Outstanding from Ofsted. We are very lucky that Sheryl has stayed part of our happy team under our new name of Little Orchard Nursery and Pre-school. Ofsted have approved Little Orchard Nursery and Pre-school for Registration and we are awaiting the grading at their next inspection.
We have decided to return to the original name, Little Orchard Nursery and Pre-school as it reflects our primary aim for all children. To provide a setting that allows them to use their own abilities to question and discover within a safe but exciting natural environment.
Who are we? The owners of Little Orchard are Caroline Trembath and Alaine Willis.
Caroline lives in Kingsbridge with her husband and two daughters. Caroline's qualifications include a BA(QTS) hons (Qualified Teacher Status) and EYT (Early Years Teacher). She has taught children from age 4 through to 7 for the past 15 years.
She was head of a Pre Prep department (which included a nursery) in Surrey, and most recently worked in Plymouth in a Prep school. In 2010 she qualified as a childminder, and has mainly looked after babies and toddlers for the past 4 years.
Alaine has lived in South Brent for the last 5 years with her husband and three daughters. Prior to having a family she worked as a paediatric physiotherapist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and following her move to Devon she worked at Vranch House school. She qualified as a childminder in 2011 and has looked after children from birth to 4.
We have well qualified staff working at Little Orchard Nursery and Pre-school. These qualifications include:

Food Hygiene level 2

Our Vision, Ethos & Beliefs
Nurturing Confident, Caring and Curious children.
At Little Orchard Nursery & Pre School we consider every 'little person' to be an independent, fascinating, creative individual with a huge amount to offer the world. At Little Orchard Nursery and Pre School we understand that the importance of the early years in a child's general development cannot be over-emphasised.
- The need for love and security
- The need to be treated as an individual
- The need for new experiences
- The need for praise and recognition
- The need for a framework of responsible behavior
- The need to be given the time to extend their own ideas.
We believe that excellent nursery education helps very young learners to become stimulated and excited by the fun of learning through play, which supports a positive life-long attitude to learning and succeeding.
We believe that parents play a large part of their child’s development. We encourage a strong partnership with parents and carers.
We are passionate about helping children to develop their moral compass and encouraging them to become self-respecting, confident and social individuals. We aim to encourage life skills in preparation for school.
Our promise to you:
- To provide the highest standards of care and nursery education tailored to your child's individual interests and needs.
- To provide a stimulating environment where children can be inspired to learn and grow.
- To encourage independent learners and thinkers.
Your child's safety, happiness and education is of our highest importance.
